Alopecia areata

alopecia areata

Alopecia areata is an autoimmune skin condition, most commonly seen in children, where patients experience loss of hair in round or oval patches without inflammation of the skin. The condition is a result of the immune system attacking hair follicles, causing hair loss. The most commonly affected area is the scalp, but this condition may occur in other areas with hair.

Our providers seek to determine the cause of hair loss so they may help develop a personalized treatment plan for patients.

Dermatology Associates also treats patients with alopecia.
