Vitiligo

vitiligo

Vitiligo is patchy loss of pigment in the skin. The risk of getting vitiligo increases if a person has a close blood relative with the condition, or autoimmune diseases such as Hashimoto’s disease, or alopecia areata.

The affected skin can lighten, or turn completely white, but does not often cause additional symptoms. Treatment may be in the form of topical medications or phototherapy.
