People from Rochester, NY, and surrounding areas considering BOTOX know that crow’s feet and “worry lines” are some of the earliest signs of aging. These wrinkles can create an angry or tired appearance and make you look years older. BOTOX injections help patients from Brighton, Irondequoit, Henrietta, and beyond smooth out wrinkles and fine lines in a natural-looking way.

BOTOX is a neurotoxin that temporarily relaxes the tiny facial muscles that cause wrinkles to develop. Unlike lines and wrinkles caused by sun exposure and the skin’s natural aging process, the dynamic wrinkles targeted by BOTOX are created by repeated muscle contractions as you change expressions. BOTOX can also prevent new wrinkles from forming by reducing muscle movement.
DAXXIFY®, Dysport®, and XEOMIN® are also neuromodulaters that can improve expression lines on the face. Your provider can advise you on the best injectable based on your skin concerns.
Because each patient comes to us with unique concerns, it’s difficult to provide an accurate estimate of a general cost. The cost of your treatment session is tailored to your individual needs and desires. We charge patients a per-unit price, which is a more transparent method than charging per area, as some other practices do.
During your initial consultation, we’ll provide a written quote to help you plan. Dermatology Associates of Rochester prides itself on our extensive history of producing successful treatments and customizing procedures to meet the specific needs of our patients.
Your BOTOX session will only take a few minutes, and you can resume your normal activities immediately after the treatment. Even though the procedure is extremely safe, it is still a medical treatment and requires injectors with advanced training to ensure you get the desired results.
Our board-certified dermatologists and nurse practitioners have the skill, experience, and sense of aesthetics to customize treatments to meet your individual cosmetic goals and create natural-looking results that avoid a “frozen” appearance.
BOTOX improves facial lines and wrinkles caused by frequent muscle movements such as:
Some of the areas listed are considered “off-label” uses, meaning BOTOX is not specifically approved by the FDA for those treatment areas.

You can resume most regular activities immediately after your treatment. However, you should postpone strenuous activities for 24 hours and avoid lying down for 3 to 4 hours. Refrain from rubbing or touching the treated area for a day. After that, apply sunscreen to your skin when going outdoors, as the treated areas can be sensitive. You should see the results of your BOTOX treatment after about a week.
When performed by a skilled injector, you can expect natural-looking results from your BOTOX treatment. You’ll retain the ability to make a full range of facial expressions, though your movements will be a little less pronounced. We are always careful to create flattering, subtle results that don’t look “frozen” or “overdone,” and we closely follow the manufacturer’s instructions for the preparation of each dose to maximize the duration of the results.
We established Dermatology Associates of Rochester to provide quality, compassionate medical and cosmetic skincare and plastic surgery services in a boutique setting where patients felt like part of an extended family. Our board-certified dermatologists, plastic surgeon, nurse practitioners, and registered nurses work together with our professional staff to ensure you enjoy an exceptional experience each time you visit.
Meet the TeamBOTOX and dermal fillers are both injectable treatments, but they work in different ways and address different types of wrinkles. While BOTOX addresses dynamic wrinkles, dermal fillers use gels to restore volume to areas of the face where the aging process creates lines and wrinkles, such as nasolabial folds or thinning lips.

Absolutely. BOTOX is excellent on its own, but you can make your results even more dramatic by adding skin rejuvenation procedures, such as Halo™ Pro, Fraxel®, microneedling and microdermabrasion. BOTOX also pairs well with dermal fillers to comprehensively rejuvenate the face.
Combining BOTOX and filler in this way is often called a liquid or nonsurgical facelift. A liquid facelift can be an excellent option for patients seeking to rejuvenate their face, lift mild sagging, and treat wrinkles. This approach may not be appropriate for patients with more severe facial sagging, where facelift surgery may be a better approach to addressing your concerns. Your practitioner will be happy to guide you through decisions like this during your consultation.
Most patients describe the sensation as similar to being pinched, but it’s rare for any discomfort to linger. If requested, we offer a topical numbing cream prior to your injections to keep you as comfortable as possible. Patients typically return to work or other activities immediately after their treatment.
BOTOX is approved by the FDA and has an extensive track record for being safe and effective. The best way to minimize the risk of unwanted side effects is to choose experienced and highly trained injectors. BOTOX is the only product approved by the FDA to treat cosmetic concerns such as excessive underarm sweating, crow’s feet, and moderate to severe forehead lines.
BOTOX treatments produce temporary results generally lasting up to 3 months. Patients who get injections to maintain their results may notice the effects last longer.
The number of injections you need depends on your facial goals and the areas you want to treat. BOTOX is a customizable treatment; your provider will determine the right number of injections for radiant and long-lasting results.
Your BOTOX treatment will take around 15 minutes or longer, depending on the areas you want to improve.
A skilled and experienced injector can give you soft and natural-looking results with BOTOX. After the treatment, you should still look like yourself, just more youthful and refreshed.
BOTOX and dermal fillers address the skin differently. BOTOX repairs dynamic wrinkles caused by repetitive facial movements like smiling and squinting. Dermal fillers add or restore volume to areas of the face. If your concerns include wrinkles and volume loss, you may benefit from combining injectable treatments.
BOTOX can relax expression lines and wrinkles while preventing new wrinkles, which is why many people in their 20s and early 30s use BOTOX for “prejuvenation.” However, BOTOX results aren’t permanent. We recommend getting injections every 3 to 4 months to preserve your youthful appearance.
At least a week before your appointment, you should stop taking aspirin and anti-inflammatory medications such as Advil®, Motrin®, and ibuprofen. We also recommend that you avoid direct sun exposure and steer clear of harsh skincare treatments and products in the days leading up to your treatment.
Like BOTOX, Dysport and DAXXIFY are neuromodulators that relax the muscles, easing the repetitive facial movements that cause wrinkles and fine lines to form. All are effective; however, they are each formulated slightly differently. For example, Dysport diffuses more easily than BOTOX when injected, so it’s often a good choice for larger treatment areas like the forehead. BOTOX and Dysport last about 3 to 4 months, while DAXXIFY can last up to 6 months or longer. Many patients first try BOTOX to “feel out” their results and later switch to a longer-lasting treatment like DAXXIFY.
