CellFX® Skin Lesion Removal
Skin growths such as moles, warts, and skin tags—called benign skin lesions—can be irritating or unsightly, but they typically don’t pose a health concern. Skin lesion removal at our Rochester, NY, practice is accomplished using an innovative, nonsurgical treatment option called CellFX. CellFX destroys the growth without damaging the surrounding skin.
Are You a Good Candidate for CellFX?
Anyone who is bothered by spots or skin bumps may benefit from a CellFX treatment once it’s determined that the growth is a benign (noncancerous) lesion. The patients we treat with the CellFX procedure may be self-conscious about a visible skin lesion or want to have a dermatologist remove the growth for medical reasons.
There are a great many varieties of benign skin lesions, including:
- Freckles and age spots
- Moles
- Skin tags
- Cherry angiomas
- Seborrheic keratoses
- Cold sores
- Cysts
- Lipomas
- Warts
- Sebaceous Hyperplasia
Skin lesions can occur anywhere on the face or body and have several causes, including genetics and aging. One of our dermatologists will examine the growth to determine its specific nature before treatment. They may recommend a biopsy if there is any uncertainty about the lesion.
How Much Does a CellFX Treatment Cost in Rochester, NY?
The cost of your CellFX treatment will depend on several factors, including your skin lesion type, if more than one lesion is removed, and the treatment area.
How Does CellFX Work?
CellFX is a unique treatment for skin lesions because it targets cells that make up the growths, unlike other treatment methods that can harm the skin surrounding the unwanted lesions. It accomplishes this with a patented technology called Nano-Pulse Stimulation™ (NPS™), delivering rapid energy pulses that target the growth at the cellular level. Traditional treatment methods such as freezing or heat or chemical applications are less precise and often don’t reach below the skin to deeper layers, where skin lesions may extend. Skin growths are often similar to icebergs, with roots well below the skin’s surface.
The non-thermal CellFX procedure reduces the risk of scarring and promotes natural, gradual healing that leads to healthy, renewed skin.
How CellFX Works
What Happens During a CellFX Treatment?
A CellFX treatment takes only a few minutes, and patients typically return to their normal activities immediately after their appointments. Before beginning the treatment, the provider measures the lesion and may mark it. A local anesthetic numbs the area, and then the dermatologist chooses a specific treatment tip and level customized for the patient’s specific needs.
The doctor places the device on the lesion, and microneedles surround it on the skin. Patients may feel a mild tapping or twitching sensation as the CellFX device delivers the rapid pulses of electric energy signals. Once the dermatologist completes the treatment, a healing ointment is applied and covered with a small bandage. The time it takes for the area to heal depends on the size, location, and type of lesion, in addition to how quickly you normally heal. We provide post-care instructions for patients to follow.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can more than one lesion be removed during an appointment?
Yes, we recommend treating multiple lesions and types of growths in one procedure session. The actual time it takes to actually remove the lesion is a matter of seconds, making it practical to address as many lesions as possible during a single appointment.
Will I need more than one treatment?
We can usually clear each lesion with a single procedure. If you have lesions that are more difficult to treat, our dermatologist will discuss a treatment plan with you.
When will I see results?
The normal healing time after removing different types and sizes of lesions varies. Typically, it takes 30 to 60 days for most lesions to clear, with a new layer of skin developing until the skin looks normal after about 60 to 90 days.
